President’s Message- October 2011
The aged event season is now well under way, and our 2011 ICHA Futurity & Aged Event was a great show! We had an excellent turnout of cutters and we would like to thank everyone who supported the show. We would also like to thank everyone who supported our sponsors, vendors and activities outside of the cutting pen.
The Mercuria World Series of Cutting event presented by 3K Ranch that was held in conjunction with our show was a huge success! The house was packed and it was a very exciting evening for participants and spectators alike, as Phil Rapp broke the NCHA record with a score of 234 on Dont Look Twice owned by Waco Bend Ranch to win the Mercuria Open Finals. It was also a thrill to watch our very own Dan Hansen win the Mercuria Non Pro Finals with a score of 230 on Woody Be Lucky (“Freak”).
I would like to personally thank those people who are directly responsible for the production of a fantastic, smooth show; Sue & Vic Marostica, Corey Fagan, John & Lennie Uhrig, Kathryn Webb, Dru Stewart, Kim Whimpey, Paige Isom, Aaron Aegerter/Hitchiker Productions, Dan Wold Photography, Brian Anderson, Scott Martin, Diehl Hiner, Bob Hulden, Darcy Skaar and the ICHA Board of Directors. You have each gone above and beyond the call of duty numerous times throughout the past several months. I feel very privileged to work with such an awesome crew!! A big thank you also to Rod, Sally, Gary, Pat, Marty and all of the Idaho Horse Park staff for once again helping us put on a fabulous show.
Congratulations to Carol Ward, who was the lucky winner of our ICHA/UCHA Youth Scholarship Program chaps raffle, courtesy of Dave Hack Custom Chaps. Thanks to everyone who purchased raffle tickets to support this effort. 100% of the funds generated from this raffle will go into our ICHA/UCHA Youth Scholarship Fund and we appreciate the support of our youth cutters by each and every one of you!
Be sure to mark your calendars for the final two weekend shows of the 2011 Idaho Champion Series– Boise Valley CHA weekend show October 1st & 2nd in Caldwell, Idaho, and Boise Valley CHA aged event & weekend October 6th – 9th in Caldwell, Idaho. These will be the final weekend shows from which earnings will be counted toward the 2011 Idaho Champion Series standings, as well as for 2011 NCHA National Championships qualifications.
We are already busy making plans for the 2012 show season, which will once again include our March Spring Aged Event & Weekend Show in Nampa, Idaho. Any suggestions, comments or ideas from you, the ICHA membership, are welcomed– Skaar3@yahoo.com or (208) 709-3543
Safe travels to each of you,
