President’s Message – October 2010

Hello Everyone,

The aged event season is now well under way, and our 2010 ICHA Futurity & Aged Event was a great show! We had an excellent turnout of cutters and we would like to thank everyone who supported the show. We would also like to thank everyone who supported our sponsors, vendors and activities outside of the cutting pen.

Our 3rd Annual Bridleless Cutting was a huge success and through the generous bids of the audience during the calcutta, we were able to raise $5,125 for the Ride For Joy therapeutic riding program for children with special needs- what an accomplishment! The house was packed and it was a very exciting evening for participants and spectators alike.

I would like to personally thank those people who are directly responsible for the production of a fantastic, smooth show; Sue Marostica, Corey Fagan, John & Lennie Uhrig and their crew, Bob Hulden, Kathryn Webb, Dru Stewart, Kim Whimpey, Casey Casper, Brian Anderson, Scott Martin, Diehl Hiner, Aaron Aegerter/Hitchiker Productions, and Laurie Errington/Scootemnshootem Photography. You have each gone above and beyond the call of duty numerous times throughout the past several months. I feel very privileged to work with such an awesome crew!! A big thank you also to Rod, Sally, Gary, Pat, Marty and all of the Idaho Horse Park staff for once again helping us put on a fabulous show.

Remember that the 2010 ICHA/UCHA Youth Scholarship Auction will be held in conjunction with the UCHA Futurity & Aged Event in November. Please join us in supporting the scholastic future of our youth cutters! To make an item or cash donation, contact Ryan Hutchinson, ICHA Youth Scholarship Coordinator, at (208) 850-6468 or

Be sure to mark your calendars for the Boise Valley CHA aged event & NCHA-approved weekend show, which will be held October 8th – 10th in Kuna, Idaho. This will be the final weekend show from which earnings will be counted toward the 2010 Idaho Champion Series standings.

We are already busy making plans for the 2011 show season, which will once again include our March Spring Aged Event & Weekend Show in Nampa, Idaho. Any suggestions, comments or ideas from you, the ICHA membership, are welcomed– or (208) 709-3543

Safe travels to each of you,

Preston Skaar
ICHA President
