ICHA President’s Message May 2009

Hello,

Happy Spring! By the time you read this, NCHA Western Nationals will be well under way in Ogden, Utah. I wish everyone that is competing there the best of luck!

I look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming spring & summer 2009 Idaho Champion Series shows: Oakley, UT May 29-30; Kuna, ID May 30-31; Nampa, ID June 12-14.

We are excited about the remaining two ICHA-produced shows of the 2009 season, which are both part of the 2009 Idaho Champion Series. These shows will be held June 12, 13 & 14 at the Idaho Horse Park in Nampa, Idaho (this show will be Three shows over Three days) and July 17 & 18 at Riverbend Ranch in Idaho Falls, Idaho (this show will be Two shows over Two days). I hope to see each of you there!

We are still working hard to gather up enough sponsors to be able to present saddles to the Champions of each class of the 2009 Idaho Champion Series. So far, we have commitments for four saddles and they will be given in the $2,000 Limited Rider, $10,000 Amateur, $20,000 Non-Pro and $50,000 Amateur classes. Please be sure to say Thank You to our four fantastic saddle sponsors– Sandy Figge, Alex & Gina Macdonald, Bob & Ann Hulden and Diehl & Jessica Hiner, and Figge Farms Barn (Scott Martin, Cindy Mann, Denise Shewmaker, Corneil Therrien and Hazel Thorne)– for their generous contribution to the ICHA and to YOU!

The 2009 ICHA Futurity & Aged Event will take place September 1-8, 2009 in Nampa, Idaho at the Idaho Horse Park. Our event this year will have $84,000 Added Money (not pro-rated). We have made some changes to the structure of the show, which includes 30% advancement to the finals in each class. We will again host a Bridleless Cutting, as well as many fun-filled evening activities (Welcome to Idaho Party, Fashion Show, Casino Night, Tailgate Party and much more!) We are excited to announce that we will have a New Earth-tone Arena Color for the show this year! Watch for more Futurity &Aged Event information in upcoming issues of Horse Sports, as well as on our website at www.idahocha.com.

See you all in Ogden,

Preston Skaar
ICHA President
